Trump now leaves an open window to find a solution with the "very dangerous" Huawei…

You do not need to be an expert analyst and techie to understand the whole story between USA and Huawei is clearly one tough political game.

Μa week has passed by the signing of the presidential decree which blacklisted Huawei and 68 other Chinese companies in the US Department of Commerce, which barred any commercial transactions with US companies.

In the days that followed we had them in order Google, Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx, Broadcom and the British ARM to terminate their partnerships with Huawei, while this morning we learned that they removed it from the members of the SD Association regarding the construction and installation of microSD slots.

The United States has granted a 90-day grace period (expiring on August 19) for Huawei to provide the necessary security updates for its devices and continue to support networks in any US-based country, but this is clearly not enough to continue to operate smoothly and secure the future of both its own and its millions of customers around the world.

The situation is difficult for Huawei at this stage, but recent statements by President Donald Trump leave an open window to find a solution and at the same time acknowledge the nature of the dispute.

In his speech Trump about support for farmers in the US, a journalist asked him about the issue that has arisen. His answer was:

Huawei is something very dangerous. If you look at what he has done in terms of security, from a military point of view, it is very dangerous. It is possible, however, that Huawei will be included in some trade agreement that we may conclude with China. If we agree, then I imagine Huawei is somehow included in this deal. […]

It will be a good deal for us. It's too early to talk about the impact of the deal on Huawei. At the moment we are very wary of Huawei from a security perspective.

What do we understand from all this? Trump wants to punish Huawei on the pretext of security without proving the slightest of US allegations to date, while on the other he intends to use it as a negotiating term in the trade war with China.

So he leaves a window open to normalize the situation for Huawei, but who knows what he may have in mind…
