At Xiaomi today, the company announced its first Image Signal Processing (ISP) chip - the Surge C1.
Η Xiaomi stated that the C1 appears will be independent of SoC which the devices will have and will be integrated on the motherboard. This makes it an independent chip Xiaomi to take photos, which will use its own algorithm. Also, regarding the development, the company stated that this chip is the result of an investment of 140 million RMB.
More specifically, Xiaomi for two whole years, worked and invested a lot of money in the department Research and Development to develop an ISP Chip that uses less resources from the processor and memory, resulting in better picture quality.
That particular ISP chip uses the combination of the algorithm 3A as shown below:
- AF - Auto Focus (Auto Focus)
- AWB - Accurate White Balance (Exact White Balance)
- AE - Automatic Exposure (Automatic Exhibition)
His purpose Auto Focus is to focus on objects faster and solve focus problems in the dark, especially when the focus is smaller.
Then, its purpose Accurate White Balance is the correction of white balance in a frame when there is complex lighting around.
Finally, its purpose Automatic Exposure is to achieve the right exposure levels as well as improve the dynamic range.
Η Xiaomi says that C1 appears has a dual-filter configuration that helps in the parallel processing of low and high frequency signals. All this combined with the efficient use of algorithms 3A, intends to offer 100% in signal efficiency.
Its development C1 appears had started in 2014 and made its debut in 2017. However, not many details about it have been revealed to date, and the Lei Jun confirmed to us that despite the problems they encountered, the development of Surge chip will be continued.
Finally, this chip is already making its first appearance in the company's first foldable smartphone, the My MIX Fold in order to enhance the lenses and improve the overall quality of the photos.
We are waiting for the new C1 appears to appear on other devices as well Xiaomi in the future but we will first have to wait for some official announcement about it.
