Ο Gary Sims by Android Authority using its own trial suite, the Speed Test G , compare its performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 against him Apple A13 SoC.
ΣIt is often said that Apple processors are at least two generations ahead of the processors available for Android. Samsung, Huawei and MediaTek manufacture powerful processors for Android devices, As the Samsung Exynos 990 and MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G . However, Apple's closest competitor in terms of performance has often been Qualcomm with Snapdragon.
Gary Sims from Android Authority using his own test suite, the Speed Test G , found that ο Snapdragon 855 last year had a similar performance to the Apple A11 processor found in the iPhone 8. But compared to the Apple A13 Series 11 processor , the Snapdragon 855 is about 25% slower.
But this correlation is now ready to change. Two things that happened this year are vital.
- First, the increase of the performance from Apple A12 to A13 was less than 5%.
- Secondly, the Snapdragon 865 managed to achieve a real speed increase of 20%.
This stumble from Apple and the leap from Qualcomm means that now these two processors are starting to compete in the same class.
Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 865 in early December 2019, and shortly after its release, it allowed some to test the 865's performance using a reference device - the Qualcomm (QRD).
The QRD is basically a prototype smartphone made by Qualcomm for testing. It is aesthetically neutral, but inside there is a standard installation of the Snapdragon 865, including 5G modem, RAM, internal storage, etc.
While others were busy with AnTuTu and Geekbench on the Snapdragon 865 reference device, tests were performed with the Speed Test GX 2.0 suite. If you're not familiar with Speed Test G, this is a test suite written by Gary Sims.
The following graphs are the result of the tests performed with pQualcomm benchmark (Snapdragon 865) vs. iPhone 11 Pro Max (Apple A13).
Below is the video that shows the process of the measurements that were made.
