The latest information from sources in South Korea confirms that the Samsung will use Ultra Thin Glass in the upcoming Galaxy Fold 2.
Η company has already placed the order from Dowoo Insys and Bulkhead, the companies that produced UTG for Galaxy z flip.
However, it seems that Samsung wants to lower the cost of producing screens on its foldable devices. Corning will also help in this effort, with which it started the cooperation to accelerate the growth and to create a new production unit in the United States, according to sources in Korea.
The plan is to develop one Ultra Thin Glass from Corning, which we will see in the foldable smartphones of 2021. Apart from the cost, Samsung does not seem to be satisfied with the weight of the Ultra Thin Glass that are currently available, as they significantly increase the total weight of the devices that have these due to screens.
Corning has been planning a glass for foldable devices since last year, with reports so far that the final product will be announced in late 2020. Partnering with Samsung will help the company refine its technology and accelerate the production line.
