Samsung: Introduces the first 0.7μm-pixel image sensor for mobile devices

Η Samsung Electronics introduced the first image sensor 0.7-micrometer (μm) -pixel in industry, him 43,7 Megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Slim GH1.

ΧIn ISOCELL Plus technology, the new, ultra-high resolution, GH1 image sensor has 43,7 million pixels, 0.7μm in size, making it the best solution for slim devices with full-screen displays.

The ISOCELL Slim GH1 is the first mobile image sensor in the industry to incorporate the smallest pixel size in the industry, at 0.7μm. Utilizing ISOCELL Plus, Samsung's latest pixel isolation technology that minimizes color mixing and loss of detail in the projection, the tiny 0.7μm pixels can absorb more light information to produce bright, vibrant photos. In low light conditions, the GH1 uses Tetracell technology that merges adjacent pixels to provide greater photosensitivity, equivalent to that of a 1.4μm-pixel image sensor.

For video recording in 4K (3.840 × 2.160) resolution, the ISOCELL Slim GH1, with a high resolution of 7.968 × 5.480, is capable of capturing 4K video with minimal loss of field of view (FoV), while most high-resolution image sensors cut back or reduce full image resolutions, resulting in a smaller field of view. Based on Tetracell technology, the GH1 degrades to 3.984 × 2.740, adequately meeting the 4K (3.840 × 2.160) resolution requirements and allowing users to capture more detailed environments when recording high-definition video or selfies at 60 frames per second (fps). ).

For even clearer photos and videos, the GH1 supports gyroscope-based electronic image stabilization (EIS) and high-resolution, super-PD autofocus technology, enabling fast and detailed autofocus. In addition, high dynamic range real-time (HDR) mode offers even more balanced exposure and rich color, even in mixed lighting environments.

"Samsung has taken the next step in innovative pixel technology, from the industry's first 1.0μm-pixel image sensor to state-of-the-art 0.8μm high-resolution 64-megapixel and 108-megapixel sensors," said Yongin Park, Executive Vice President President of Sensor Business at Samsung Electronics. "We are pleased to note another breakthrough with the industry's first 0.7μm pixel image sensor, the ISOCELL Slim GH1, which will allow for a slimmer, more modern design and excellent photography experience on tomorrow's smartphones."

Mass production of the Samsung ISOCELL Slim GH1 is expected to begin in late 2019.
