Η Samsung develops one folding smartphone with camera under the screen and support S PenBy flexible screen extend to the back of the device.

Τnot coming Wednesday 11 August, his big event will be organized Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2021, in which the folding smartphones will be announced Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Both of Samsung's new foldable devices are significantly better than their predecessors. We were hoping that Samsung would also introduce its first rolling smartphone for 2021, however, it seems very likely that this Galexy Z Slide or Galaxy Z Roll will not be released before 2022.

In terms of design, Samsung seems to be developing a similar model to Huawei. Last week, the LetsGoDigital mentioned one Huawei rolling smartphone , in which the flexible screen extends to the back of the device. This time it is her turn Samsung Electronics, which has also received a new patent for a flexible smartphone with a flexible screen.

It is noteworthy that the Samsung has applied for its patent in Germany and we have never seen anything like it. Early development technologies typically receive their respective patents in Korea. As the development of the devices progresses, the patents will also be registered in the USPTO and WIPO. This time, however, Samsung's patent was filed in Germany in order to secure the technology for the European market at an early stage.

This makes it even more likely that Samsung intends to apply this technology to one of its future products, as it is a very detailed patent, in which all the parts of the device are analyzed in detail.

The foldable Galaxy Z Slide smartphone with part of the screen on the back

The patent entitled "Electronic control with flexible flex»Was submitted by Samsung Electronics on German Patent and Trademark on April 29, 2021. The 36-page documentation was released on 29 July 2021 and is also included in its database World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).

As we will see below, this is a stylish rolling smartphone, which in its most compact form looks like a regular device in your hands, with a rounded screen on the left. There is also a screen on the back and right half of the smartphone. Thanks to the narrow bezel on the side, the device appears to have two independent monitors, but it is only a large flexible display.

If you need a larger screen, you can easily turn your phone into a tablet. Seeing the device from the front, the right side of the screen can be pulled out, after which you can enlarge the screen surface by about 40-50% and the user interface automatically adjusts depending on how the device is used.

To get a better idea of Samsung's patented technology, the talented graphic designer Technizo Concept created a series of XNUMXD renders of the device for LetsGoDigital, based on the images published in her patent Samsung Electronics. These returns created by Technizo Concept, give us a representation of what this rolling Samsung smartphone will look like.

When the device is wrapped, the screen is not supported by the casing. We also saw a similar mechanism with her model Huawei . THE Samsung It also uses a roller to provide the necessary space between the flexible display and the internal components of the device.

However Samsung does not use magnets to make the screen unroll without wrinkles like Huawei did. Instead, Samsung chooses to apply multiple flexible / elastic carrier films around the cylinder. These films will provide some distance between the screen and the roller to prevent friction, which will obviously affect the user experience during screen development and contraction.

Furthermore, the Samsung has added a multi-link hinge structure, which should also help ensure a flat screen without wrinkles. This smart multi-hinge will support the flexible display when pulled from the bent position via the left side of the device. In addition, the screen will be supported by a rigid plate, which will be pulled out and will no longer be supported by the device housing itself.

This solution will undoubtedly be more expensive to build and implement than the pair of magnets used by Huawei, however it seems to be a much better and more stable solution. In addition, the documentation submitted by Samsung in this particular patent. has been designed in such a way that we can assume that Samsung has actually developed this technology into a real device.

The function of the folding screen is identical to Huawei. However, Samsung has placed a bezel over part of the screen, which protects this sensitive side of the device. This undoubtedly benefits the robustness of the whole body of the device and in addition, the window with the screen on the back of the device, occupies less than half of the total surface. This means that this part of the screen will remain useful even when you have fully opened the device.

The process of scrolling and expanding the screen will be automatic and can be activated by the user at the touch of a button. This functionality may be available via a separate key, but it can also be integrated into the power button (On / Off) mounted on the top of the device. The fingerprint sensor will be integrated below the screen.

Optionally, the device can be equipped with support S Pen This sounds quite plausible as well Galaxy ZFold 3 5G expected later this week will also be compatible with the Samsung stylus. For this reason it has been developed by Samsung, and a special version S Pen Fold. It S Pen Pro it will probably also be compatible with the new one fold, which will also have Bluetooth.

New Samsung Smartphone with camera under the screen

It is also striking that Samsung is talking about integrating a Selfie camera under the screen in this model. The Galaxy z fold 3 will be the first foldable smartphone to implement the selfie camera under the flexible screen. It is a 4 megapixel image sensor, of which the quality of the photos is not expected to be so good.

This will not be a problem, as this slider smartphone also has a fairly large screen area available on the back of the device and it will also be possible to take selfies with the main camera.

As for the rear camera, the patent images show a vertical dual camera layout, however, the documentation speaks to the integration of multiple cameras. For example, a wide-angle camera, a telephoto lens and a close-up (Macro) camera.

So Technizo Concept chose a similar camera system as Galaxy z fold 3.3 for 3D rendering of the device. This foldable phone will be equipped with a wide angle camera 12MP, an extremely wide angle camera in 12MP and a telephoto lens at 12MP.
