Samsung Galaxy Fold: It withstood 120.000 folds just before it became obsolete!

CNET has conducted a test of the hinge that allows the display of the Samsung Galaxy Fold display, which was officially re-released on September 6.

Η  Samsung when it unveiled the phone typically said that the hinge can withstand opening and closing up to 200.000 times. But how many times can you stand to open and close the Samsung Galaxy Fold without any problem? So let's go see the results.

Note: The live broadcast of CNET lasted a total of about 15 hours on Youtube but there are only the last 4 hours of the test.

We watched the results at that time and we convey to you what we saw. CNET used a robot that opened and closed Samsung's first folding smartphone about 2.5 times per second. The phone was switched off for energy saving reasons. From the beginning up to 100.000 a check was made on the device in order to verify that the display and the hinge are working normally. Around 119 thousand folds, the hinge began to push and sound strange in relation to the real sound produced by a brand new Galaxy Fold.

Although the hinge was not completely useless, folding the device according to CNET was not the same. When turning on the phone, a large white line was found exactly where the display folds from the top to the middle while the same line was spreading to the right of the smartphone. However, it cannot be ascertained whether this line appeared from the many folds.

A little later, the left half of the display turned black while the other half with the line was working normally. The display remained in this state even after a reboot. Then the test was continued for about 600 more folds where the folding mechanism stopped working. With a few more attempts to manually fold the phone, it reopened, but its screen was completely destroyed after being filled with lines.
