Samsung: The first Exynos 1080 5nm SoC for high-end 5G devices is ready

Η Samsung has prepared the new Exynos 1080 SoC, which will supply high-end 5G devices, but not in the flagship category.

Σspecifically, the Ice Universe informs us that the new chipset will come as the replacement of the 980 and not the 990. In the second case, we wait for Exynos 2100Or Exynos 1000 as is known to date.

The new SoC will include cores Cortex-A78 at 2.1GHz and it will be 20% more efficient from the Cortex-A77 at 2.3GHz, but with 50% lower consumption. The new Exynos 1080 will use the Mali-G78 GPU, which is two generations ahead of the Mali-G76 used by the Exynos 980.

All of the above according to Dr. Pan Xuebao, his director Samsung Semiconductor Research Institute in China. The official announcement is expected soon.

However, what we are really waiting to see is the Exynos 2100 (or as it will eventually be called), which will come to replace the flagship SoC the company's. Let's not forget that the 990 was quite stronger than the 980, so that gives us hope for the new SoC.

In addition, we expect to see the power of the core Cortex-X1, as in the Snapdragon 875. According to the information so far, the new SoC will be used by the Vivo in the upcoming X60.
