Η Samsung is working on a new third-generation high-resolution sensor with 150 million pixels. The size of the sensor will be huge at 1 inch.
ΓWe know that Samsung makes, in addition to mobile phones, accessories for other manufacturers, with screens and photo sensors being its most famous products. Last year the company upset the market when it made a 108MP sensor.
This sensor was made at the request of Xiaomi and the result was the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 which was the first mobile phone of the company and the first in the middle class that reached the first place of DxOMark. This sensor, called ISOCELL Bright HMX, was improved and equipped with the company's winter flagship Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra called ISOCELL Bright HM1.
We now learn that Samsung is working on a new third-generation high-resolution sensor with 150 million pixels. The size of the sensor will be huge at 1 inch.
The 150MP sensor will also be equipped with Samsung Nanocell technology, upgraded from 4-in-1 pixels to 9-in-1 so that it can take 16MP photos. Rumor has it that Xiaomi will be the first to announce a mobile phone in the fourth quarter of 2020 - logically in the coming Xiaomi Mi Note 11.
In addition, Oppo and Vivo they will get the new sensor with their own phones in the first quarter of 2021. Of course, 150MP is not the limit. Qualcomm said at the Snapdragon 865 announcement conference that it developed a 200-megapixel sensor!
Currently, Samsung and Xiaomi are the only manufacturers to have phones on the market with 108MP CMOS sensors. Not all manufacturers believe in large sensors with high resolution. Sony, which powers the market with other types of cameras, has not said the last word - we expect the Huawei P40 Pro with a new sensor from the company and is expected to compete with Samsung and Xiaomi, something that the Oppo Find X2 Pro has already done.
