Galaxy for the Planet: This is Samsung's vision for sustainability in the mobile category

Η Samsung presented today the Galaxy for the Planet, its sustainability platform Mobile Communications Business supported by innovation and the spirit of open cooperation, for the undertaking of practical, environmental actions in all the processes of its business activity.


H  Samsung has set a target by 2025 to reduce its ecological footprint and minimize resource depletion, from the production to the availability of its Galaxy products.

Improving the environmental impact by 2025

For the Samsung, The integration of sustainable practices at every stage of production is vital to reduce the environmental impact and create a better future for societies, internationally, but also for the next generation of pioneers. Samsung is working to achieve its initial goals by 2025, in order to evolve its commitments to meet new challenges after 2025.

Integration of recycled materials in all new mobile products by 2025

To promote a more circular economy, Samsung is investing in new and innovative eco-friendly materials for its products. With the aim of using recycled material in all new mobile products, Samsung will use various recycled materials in its products, taking into account their power, aesthetics and durability.

Eliminate all plastics from mobile product packaging by 2025

Samsung is working to completely eliminate disposable plastics from product packaging, reducing, removing and replacing unnecessary resources and materials traditionally used in mobile packaging and incorporating eco-friendly solutions.

Reduction of standby power consumption on all smartphone chargers below 0,005W by 2025

The company gives priority to energy saving technology that increases energy efficiency and reduces consumption, respectively. Samsung has successfully reduced standby power consumption on all smartphone chargers to 0,02W, which is among the most energy efficient in the industry. Following this, the goal for the company is to achieve zero power consumption in standby mode of smartphone chargers, aiming at a reduction below 0,005W by 2025.

Achieve zero waste to be disposed of by 2025

Samsung is minimizing waste generated at its mobile phone factories by committing to zero all waste to be disposed of by 2025. The company will also work to reduce e-waste worldwide by optimizing product life cycle and product design processes, through initiatives such as Galaxy Upcycling, Certified Re-Newed, and Trade-In.

Continuing Samsung's extroversion spirit

Samsung will continue to discover new ways to deal with the climate crisis and expand its role in accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals. The company is committed to reporting progress transparently and working with colleagues and industry partners throughout the path to sustainability.

Samsung products are designed to minimize environmental impact throughout their life cycle, including energy-efficient semiconductor chips, sustainable packaging, energy-saving technology, and the ability to recycle and reuse old appliances.
