Πall of them are still waiting for the notification of the OTA for an update to Android 9 Pie on the Xiaomi Android One, Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite devices. And despite all the innovations introduced by the new Android release that are really interesting, many may not know what they are really going to encounter. In fact, before a few months ago, Xiaomi introduced a RollBack Protection, starting experimentally with the glorious Redmi Note 5.
RollBack in simple words prevents the degradation in previous versions of MIUI, turning the device brick on those who try it, on which there are recovery solutions but it is really painful for those who "Tread" it. The same locking system (RollBack Protection) was applied to other terminals such as the Mi 6X, Mi Max 3 and Redmi 6 Pro, and today Xiaomi announces via messages to the devices of the Mi-A series (Android One), that this method, which is definitely outside the philosophy of Android, has been extended to Android One devices, such as the Xiaomi Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite.
And according to Xiaomi, the Android 9 Pie update is responsible for that.
Xiaomi Introduces Anti-Rollback on Xiaomi Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite
So, any user who informs from now on, the operating system in Android 9 Pie, should be very careful what he does, as while he may still be able to downgrade his device to a previous version, there will be a big risk of system errors and ending up with a "brick" device, at which point the degradation is strongly discouraged.

We know this is a big disadvantage for some, but it seems that Xiaomi is starting to take these steps to maintain the stability and security of its phones. It is not known if Roll-Back Protection will be introduced in more models, but most likely this will be the path that Xiaomi will follow in all devices that will be upgraded to Android 9 from now on.
So wait for the Android 9 upgrade on all Xiaomi Android One devices, and then pay attention to the Miui Downgrades, so you don't have any problems.
