A new update has been released on MIUI for Redmi K40 Gaming Edition, which restores support for Google Play Services.

Μa new update to MIUI for Redmi K40 Gaming Edition released today by Xiaomi, and while the file size is small, it is a very important update, especially for those who are outside of China and intend to buy this device directly from there.

The new update is released as MIUI 12.5.5.0RKJCNXM, has size 161 MB and, according to changelog, provides support for its framework Google Play Services. This means that those who buy this device from China will be able to install it if they wish Google Mobile services to her!

This is an important update, as Xiaomi revealed earlier this year that it will remove support for Google Play Services from its devices running in China. In addition to adding support for the Services framework Google Play, the update also optimizes the touch experience.

But what does this mean for all of us in Europe?

This means that the much, much cheaper "China»Smartphone models available in China, can be purchased from a Chinese e-shop, and then install the  Google Services which are pre-installed in the EU versions of the device in Europe.

As is well known, the "China" models of the devices do not have support in MIUI for multiple languages, but only have support in Chinese and English dialects, and have a number of applications and functions that are specialized only for China, but which you can very easily delete or isolate.

But when the difference in price for the purchase of a device from China amounts to up to 300 cheaper from the corresponding European premium models, then you will definitely not be "bothered" by the Chinese ROM.

Besides, if you unlock the Bootloader of the device you will be able to install a Custom ROM like the XTRV Rom offered by our ROM - based community from xiaomi.eu, and which have as Source the corresponding Xiaomi Chinese ROMs and not the problematic and sliced ones Global & EEA Roms.

May this new practice with the support of Google Play Services to be extended later to all of Xiaomi's other China devices, but it remains to be seen whether it will eventually be done or not.

The Redmi K40 Gaming Edition released last month as the first smartphone gaming of redmi.

It is equipped with Dimensity 1200 SoC by Mediatek, the phone has 6,67 inch FHD + OLED screen at a rate of renewal 120Hz. Comes with up to 12 GB RAM and up to 256 GB of non-expandable storage.

There are three cameras on the back: a main camera in 64MP, a super-wide-angle lens in 8MP and a macro camera on 2MP. It also has a Selfie camera in front of 16MP, stereo speakers tuned by JBL, foldable "shoulder buttons", Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides and certification IP53 for water and dust resistance.
