RedMi K30: to be powered by a MediaTek SoC that supports 5G networks

A few weeks ago its general manager RedMi, Lu Weibing, during the presentation for the Redmi 8 in China, also revealed to us the Redmi K30 - the first 5G Smartphone the company's .

Αat the moment, the Redmi K20 and I 9T is one of the most popular devices in the Xiaomi lineup, and they were very successful in sales. But today we have information about the next generation of the Redmi K. series.

We had heard for a long time that the company is working on a new Smartphone with support for 5G networks, and Lu Weibing (General Manager of the company) had revealed its existence to us Redmi K30.

Now, the latest reports indicate that the new RedMi - Xiaomi smartphone will be powered by a MediaTek SoC.

This new information comes from China and the blog Digital Chat Station on Weibo (via PriceBaba) . Reports suggest that the Redmi K30 will support the next generation of 5G networks. Xiaomi recently partnered with MediaTek for the Redmi Note 8 Pro powered by the Helio G90T Gaming chipset. It is therefore possible that Xiaomi will expand the partnership it has established with MediaTek, to launch an affordable 5G smartphone.

MediaTek already has a ready-made chipset with a 5G modem integrated. This chipset will be available to all Smartphone manufacturers by the end of this quarter. This means that the new Redmi K30 powered by a MediaTek SoC will likely be released early next year.

In addition to support for 5G networks, the new Smartphone will also have a double hole in the screen for selfie cameras. The two holes will be in the upper right corner of the screen, and the selfie cameras they will house will have improved features. Weibing shared a teaser of the device on his Weibo profile, and it shows Redmi K30 to have a Selfie layout similar to Samsung Galaxy S10 + (with a dual front camera in the upper right corner).

In fact, as it became known, the new Redmi K30 will have support in Dual 5G. That means he will support both with her SA (Standalone Mode) as well as with NSA (non-autonomous) networking. THE  NSA (non-autonomous) networking will be based on existing infrastructure LTE (4G) for certain tasks, such as the communication between the mobile stations and the Servers that exist in the centers of the mobile providers. This will allow for better connectivity as well as lower 5G development costs in new areas.

Regarding pricing, the Weibing said that Redmi K30 It will not be the most affordable 5G phone in terms of cost, but it will definitely follow Redmi's pricing policy and the company will try to keep retail prices as low as possible.

According to some speculations, the new Smartphone will be equipped with the upcoming one Qualcomm 7250 chipset  which he supports dual-mode 5G.

There is currently no official release date for the new Smartphone, but we may finally see it released in the first half of 2020.
