Most of the problems that have been created in Redmi K20 / Pro and Mi 9T / Pro, related to the latest update on MIUI 12.1.4.0 given by Xiaomi.

Η Xiaomi started a company that offers a number of economical and efficient smartphones, while in recent years has enriched its huge range, offering more premium devices, some of which were at the top of worldwide sales.

To honor its loyal customers, the company also created several smartphones flagship category at very affordable prices for everyone, mainly through the subsidiaries it has created (POCO & Redmi).

Through these affiliates, the company released many decent flagship devices that one would not have to sell one's kidney to acquire. Among the many successful commercial devices, it is the legendary Pocophone F1 but also the devices of the series Redmi K20. The line K of RedMi started with the release of the very attractive Smartphone Redmi K20 and K20 Pro.

These two devices were first released on China in 2019, with strong chipset, quality AMOLED screens and pop-up Selfie cameras. It Redmi K20 was equipped with Snapdragon 730G which was the top SoC of the era for mid-range devices, while the Redmi K20 Pro was the flagship of that year from redmi, and was equipped with Snapdragon 855.

Almost three years have passed since then and Xiaomi has announced that it is going to end support for these devices in MIUI once and for all. However, there are many device owners who continue to use them even now, and according to recent upgrades to MIUI has created a lot of problems & BUGs but unfortunately the company essentially ignores them.

A brilliant start made by RedMi in 2019 with the above devices, it seems that it will end a bit awkwardly, if everything that the owners of the devices claim is true, and it will be a bad move on the part of the company to ignore its customers.

The Redmi K20 and K20 Pro originally released by Android 9 Pie and MIUI 10. The Xiaomi updated these devices on Android 10 and Android 11 until its release MIUI 12. According to several device owners who visited the Twitter to complain about the lack of support, the latest update on Android 11 caused a lot of problems on their devices, and so far, the company did not recognize all these issues, but instead surprised all users simply announcing the end of support for these two K series smartphones.

While users are complaining, Xiaomi announces the end of support

There are many device owners who are dissatisfied with the software support offered for a device that it cost about $ 403 during the period it was released.

The problem is not that the MIUI and Android update cycle has come to an end, since this is more or less the case with all Android Smartphone makers, when they are three years old from their first release, and it is natural for companies to end or slow down support for software upgrades.

The biggest problem is that the latest update to Android 11 received by the devices is not stable and has created problems in the smooth use of the devices. Leaving users with Buggy firmware is indeed unfair, especially when many of them they do not have an unlocked BootLoader ή do not have the necessary knowledge to go back to some older version that had no problems.

Most of the problems that have been created in Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, related to the latest update on MIUI 12.1.4.0 given by the company, and based on Android 11 (such a India Version as in Global Stable ROM), and below are some of them:

BUGs on Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro on MIUI 12.1.4.0 (Android 11)

  1. Delays in opening and closing applications
  2. Without Blur Effect in the recent applications menu
  3. The Floating Window(pop-ups) get stuck on the screen and can not be closed or dragged into the corner
  4. The Gestures at the Nav Bar needs more optimization
  5. Problem with drop in FPS during games - is fixed only at 26 – 29 fps
  6. Chat bubbles (Chat Bubble) do not work properly and some options are missing
  7. Keyboard overlay problem in Chat Bubble
  8. Notifications are not grouped as they should be Android 11
  9. There are no options for on / off on Chat Bubble
  10. It cannot be changed ringtone for the implementation of Notes
  11. Η Indian ROM does not have certification Widevine L1, and therefore does not exist HD content on Netflix

According to users, more than 100 errors have reported to Xiaomi, but no response has been given so far by the company. The last comment on the official Xiaomi forum was made by a supervisor ( ) of her Xiaomian, which simply confirms that the update cycle for these smartphones has come to an end.

According to the reports made by many users, these errors described above and several others, affect both the Indian as well as the World version of Redmi K20 and Redmi K20 Pro, which were released in markets other than China, under the name Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro.

Η Xiaomi India gave some formal answer through him Twitter to understand the problems in all the complaints that have been made, but again, no promise has been made to solve these problems, and as some users report, the same answer has been given in the past and is mostly a “answer that automatically gives a bot".

It's been six months since the last update to Android and we hope that Xiaomi will soon be working on bringing a proper software fix for all the smartphones affected by these issues.

Even at the end of the update cycle, the company has made several software updates in the past following complaints and requests from many users, and hopefully the same will happen now.

In any case, we expect a response that is in line with the expectations of a customer who has trusted the company for so many years.

Note: As its community Xiaomi (official FAN Club and forum) in Greece, we will continue to help those who have software problems in our forum, as we have been doing for so many years, when we first started April 2013, and we will try to help as much as possible to quickly put a happy ending to the upgrades for these devices.
