Today on his channel JerryRigEverything on Youtube, we have it teardown (disassembly) of the RedMi K20 Pro, and reveals pleasant surprises about the device's water resistance.
Σat the beginning of the month Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro, or Redmi K20 Pro for China, passed into the hands of JerryRigEverything, who subjected to all known torture. No matter how much he tried to cause irreparable damage to the device, he did not succeed and the smartphone successfully passed all the tests.
Now, Zack took the device in his hands again and this time opened it to explore its interior. The first thing JerryRig noticed is that the Redmi K20 Pro has a rubber protector in every gap that the smartphone presents.
The Redmi K20 Pro does not have any water or even splash resistance certification. However, it seems that the device may have a better chance of survival compared to other smartphones that do not have IP68 certification, or something similar.
Of course in no case the certification is necessary. For example, OnePlus stated that the OnePlus 7 is water resistant, and does not require any certification.
The company also said that if the device obtained this certification it would be more expensive. Finally, we saw several YouTubers test the OnePlus 7's water resistance by doing various experiments. But back to the Redmi K20 Pro and its interior.
After removing some panels, JerryRig located the motherboard, rear cameras, daughter board, battery and pop-up selfie camera mechanism.
He himself decided to remove the coating that the device has on the glass back and in this way created a "transparent" version of the smartphone. Behind the glass we see every visible chip or panel, the mechanism of the pop-up selfie camera, and more. Definitely not as beautiful as the original Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition.
