Η Qualcomm adds another SoC of the series to its portfolio 7XX which is none other than Snapdragon 778G.

ΤLast March, Qualcomm renewed its Snapdragon 7 line with its release Snapdragon 780G, and My 11 Lite 5G is one of the first Smartphones to integrate it.

Now h Qualcomm adds to its portfolio another 7XX series chip that is none other than Snapdragon 778G, his successor Snapdragon 768G which was officially released last year.

The Snapdragon 778G maintains many of its basic specifications Snapdragon 780G but comes with one slightly worse GPU and less powerful ISPs, while at the same time has faster CPU, best modem with support for mmWave 5G and support for faster memory.

Just like the other Snapdragon 7 series SoCs released by Qualcomm, the goal with its release Snapdragon 778G is to incorporate some of the top features we find mainly in the more expensive Snapdragon 8 series, but at a more affordable price.

So in terms of the basic specifications of the new Snapdragon 778G, this is not much different from his older brother - the Snapdragon 780G. It has a similar architecture to the CPU, as it is also equipped with a total of eight cores with clock speeds up to 2,4GHz, offering a large increase in performance that reaches Present in several = 40% against him Snapdragon 768G.

On the GPU side, the Snapdragon 778G comes with Adreno 642l, and as Qualcomm claims offers up to Present in several = 40% faster graphics performance than its predecessor. Qualcomm does not describe the GPU clock speed in detail, but it probably has a slightly lower frequency than Adreno 642 that is in 780G.

When it comes to games, the new Snapdragon 778G supports its functions Snapdragon Elite Gaming like the Variable Rate Shading (VRS), which helps game developers offer higher visual fidelity while reducing workload on the GPU.

It also supports Qualcomm Game Quick Touch, which offers up to 30% faster touch response rate in games.

The Snapdragon 778G comes with video signal processor Spectra 570L who has triple ISPs in 14-bit. This allows you to take photos and videos from three different cameras at the same time. This will allow you to easily switch between video streams from different cameras during recording. The Spectra 570L also supports them Staggered HDR sensors image for video capture HDR and HDR10 +, but also taking burst up to 120fps.

Although it is Snapdragon 778G offers similar performance compared to Snapdragon 780G, there is one area in which he is really superior to his more powerful brother, and that is in RAM and storage. The Snapdragon 778G supports LPDDR5 memory types with capacity up to 16 GB. By comparison, the Snapdragon 780G it only supports memory types L.

The Snapdragon 778G manufactured by the process in 6nm from tsmc, while Snapdragon 780G is made in the process 6nm from Samsung. However, due to the continuing global chip shortage affecting many chip manufacturers worldwide, including Qualcomm, it seems that Qualcomm is increasing production of chips for mid-priced products to meet the high demand from various OEM smartphone manufacturers.

In terms of connectivity now, the new Snapdragon 778G supports the FastConnect 6700, which allows connectivity to WiFi 6 / 6E, 8 × 8 MU-MIMO, The Bluetooth 5.2, but also supports the snapdragon sound.

Regarding the connectivity in mobile telephony, the new one Snapdragon 778G has the built-in modem Snapdragon X53 5G capable of delivering maximum download speeds of up to 3,7Gbps, while at the same time has support in 5G mmWave and Sub-6GHz, Dynamic Spectrum Sharing, 5G SA and NSA And much more.

Availability

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G is expected to be available on Smartphones that will be released in the coming months, and already in the list of OEM manufacturers that have confirmed the release of a Smartphone with the new SoC, are included Motorola, Realme, iQOO, Xiaomi, Honor and OPPO.
