ΟThe authorities say that play violence is harmful to children, it is very addictive and children are distracted from their education.
According to the Deputy Director of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA), Sandip Adhikari, the ban was implemented because PUBG is addictive for young children and adolescents.
He said he had asked all ISPs, mobile operators and network service providers to completely block access to the game and its related pages. As far as is known, the change came into effect yesterday.
In addition, Sandip Adhikari said there were no reports of PUBG-related episodes, but parents were concerned that their children were distracted from their studies, readings, and other important tasks.
Judging by what Adhikari said, it seems as if the Nepal Telecommunications Service is hearing for the first time the supposed effects that video games may have on children. Of course, the service and parents are probably unaware of the existence of Fortnite and Apex Legends which are also free. So, we have a way ahead of us until Nepal eliminates all battle royale games, at least the best known.
