How important are smartphones to humans?

ΤMobile phones have become an extension of our hand and are an integral part of our daily lives. According to a new study, these small devices have reached the point where they are considered more important even by humans, a fact that if nothing else scares.

According to research conducted jointly by psychologists from the universities of Nottingham (England) and Würzburg (Germany), smart phones are more important in our daily lives than our neighbors, colleagues, roommates and professors.

To put it another way, the smartphone comes fourth in terms of how important it plays in people's daily lives, behind only family, friends and pets.

The study involved 1.156 men and women aged 15 to 83 who were asked to evaluate online the importance of people and objects in their lives.

According to the findings, parents and children play the most important role in our daily lives, when teachers and educators are in the last place of choices!

Mobile phones are "psychologically competent entities" according to Astrid Carolus, one of the authors of the study.

"Mobile phones accompany their users throughout the day, always ready to perform their duties, such as communicating with friends and family. For its owner, the smartphone is not just a device, but a digital companion. "Because the medium seems to communicate with us, we unconsciously react in such a way as if it were human existence."

According to the survey, 65% of Britons under 35 who have a mobile phone say that smartphone is one of the things they control as soon as they wake up, while on average they spend three hours a day in front of the screen of their device.

Behind the smartphones, which the survey describes as "our faithful companions", were found in a row roommates, laptops, colleagues, television, radio, neighbors and landlines.

According to Dr. Carolus, man adapts to technology so that he can survive in modern times. "In the world of our ancestors, social interactions and information processing were essential for survival. "Unlike the world of our ancestors, in which those who sent signals were the people themselves, today electronic devices send similar signals, talking to us," he concludes.
