This week is the MWC 2019 at Shanghai which officially started today in China. THE Oppo is the first company to make an important announcement and introduce the first under-display camera to the public.
Η Oppo calls it technology Under Screen Camera (USC) which made possible a full-screen experience without notches, punch holes, bezels, or the various mechanisms in which the camera is located.
In addition, Oppo has revealed some details about how this technology works. Initially the screen uses a custom transparent material that works with a redesigned pixel structure so that light can reach the camera.
The sensor is larger than other selfie cameras and has a wider aperture to deal with light refraction. The area of the screen where the camera is located is working properly and Oppo emphasizes that the quality of the screen will not be affected at all.
Because there is some solid material in front of the camera, Oppo states that the quality of the photos will be affected by problems such as blurring, glare, and color deviations.
However, to address these issues the company has developed three algorithms that will improve the performance of the camera without reducing the performance of the screen.
Oppo said that thanks to the algorithms, the quality of the selfie photos will be "equivalent to that of mainstream devices". However, all this is in theory and we should see how the camera works in everyday conditions.
Finally, Oppo did not give details about the features of the device or the release date, but said that it will be in the near future.
