Chinese phone maker Oppo seems to be one of the most active companies in terms of experimenting with new concepts.
ΜAfter the release of the Oppo Find X with a pop-up camera and the upcoming Oppo Reno with the "Shark Fin" camera design, the tech giant seems to be working on another very unique device.
Although at the moment it is just a patent, Oppo may be preparing to build this device. Mainly because we did not think the Oppo Find X would go into production either, but our company denied it.
But before we say more about Oppo's new patent, we need to make it clear that this is not a belated April Fool's joke.
As you can see in the pictures, Oppo has filed a patent for a mobile phone with a pop-up screen. The screen appears to be slide upwards and is located just behind the main screen. If Oppo does build such a smartphone, this particular design with noticeable improvements, would offer a bigger screen, without the "problems" of foldable smartphones.
In the second design that accompanied the patent, we see a more common design. In this case the second screen appears from the side of the device, and appears to be the same size as the screen of the first drawing. In either case, the extra screens provide extra space to perform more tasks.
The truth is that these patents do not make much sense, especially considering the possibilities offered by today's technology. Yes, we have more screen, but at the same time we pay the price of the bigger bezels, which are located in the middle space, cutting the screen in two. If Oppo manages to completely remove the top or side bezel, then these patents could be the basis for some interesting new smartphones.
