Nova: Participates in the European Union 5G-SOLUTIONS research project

Η Nova announced its participation in the research project EU 5G Solutions, with the aim of developing innovative high definition content services offered through 5G networks.


ΗNova actively participates in research projects related to its activities, in collaboration with institutes and innovative companies, in order to increase its competitiveness, enriching the services it offers to its customers, but also enhancing the technological development of Greece.

Developing know - how in 5G technologyThe Nova shapes future technology solutions, commercial applications and innovative business models.

The 5G-SOLUTIONS funded by European Union in its context HORIZON 2020, aimed at testing and documenting the increased capabilities of the 5G network (such as higher speeds that allow viewing Ultra-High Definition content, guaranteed quality services, increased network capacity, Virtualisation and flexibility in vertical sectors of the economy, such as Factories of the Future, Smart Energy, Smart Cities, Smart Ports, Communication and Entertainment).



The project is implemented by 26 partners: telecommunications companies (TELECOM ITALIA, TELENOR and NOVA), industries (PROCTER & GAMBLE, ENEL, IBM, Glambia, IREN, YARA), providers of telecommunications products and solutions (ERICSSON, NOKIA, LIVE U and INTRACOM TELECOM), small and medium-sized enterprises (ARES2T, APP-ART, CYBERETHICSLAB, EBOS TECHNOLOGIES, INLECOM, IRIS, NUROGAMES, ORBIS) and research organizations (CTTC, ONTNU, NTNU, University of Patras, and the WATERFORD TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE).

In the context of the project 5G-SOLUTIONSThe Nova successfully performed 5G tests in collaboration with University of Patras and the company LIVE U. The tests proved the upgraded quality of multimedia services through 5G networks.

Ioannis MarkopoulosMr. Ioannis Markopoulos, head of its innovation department Nova, stated:

Nova has a long history of innovation through its systematic participation in both Greek and European research projects. Major areas of interest for Nova include investing in innovative content creation and distribution platforms, GAIA-X compliant data exchange environments, and the creation of innovative 5G business services. The know-how acquired and the solutions implemented through these projects contribute significantly to the creation of new services, making the company innovative in the Greek market.
