IDC: Xiaomi continues to be the absolute dominator of the Smartphone market in India.

Η Xiaomi continues to almost monopolize, with Samsung to be in second place in India's smartphone market in the first quarter of 2019.

Η company International Data Corporation (IDC) has released its latest report on the Smartphone market in India for the first quarter of 2019.


The report states that Samsung has become the number one smartphone maker in the premium phones industry in India. The Korean technocrat of South Korea has surpassed OnePlus and Apple in this field in the first quarter of 2019 in the country.

However, its total market share decreased from 25,1%, in the same quarter of the previous year, to 22,3%.

According to the report, Samsung has gained an overall 36% stake in the $ 500+ (~ Rs 35.000+) share of premium phones in India in the first quarter of this year. The new flagships of the Galaxy S10 series, which was supported by huge marketing campaigns, contributed to this rise.

Η OnePlus took second place and the smartphone OnePlus 6T was the top model in the category of premium devices in Q1 2019.

With regard to Xiaomi, continued to dominate the overall smartphone market during the period, with a total share of 30,6%. The company sold 9,8 million devices, which gives an increase of 8,1% on an annual basis. In particular, Chinese telephone companies continued to dominate the e-sales market with a share of 48,6%.

Η Samsung took second place with a market share of 22,3% and shipments of 7,2 million units, down 4,8% year on year. The company's market share on the internet increased to 13,5%, thanks to the online circulation of the company's M series. Samsung's new A-Series phones have helped it tackle Chinese players in the offline market.

Speaking of third place, the Vivo raised its market share to 13%, and the company shipped 4,2 million devices in Q1 2019, an increase of 108,4% compared to the same period last year. The emerging smartphones Vivo Y91 and V15 Pro of the company contributed the most to its development.

Η OPPO regains fourth place in India, gaining 7,6% market share and shipments of 2,4 million units. The company recorded an annual growth of 9,7%, thanks to the release of new models such as OPPO K1, F11 and F11 Pro .

Η Realme on the other hand it seems to have fallen to fifth place in India with a market share of 6%. The company shipped 1,9 million units during the period, with its new lineup  Realm 3 to have the largest share of sales.

In addition, the report states that overall the Indian smartphone market has grown by 7,1%, as 32,1 million smartphone units were sold in the country in the first quarter.

In particular, the online sales channels managed to maintain their pace, recording an increase 19,6% on an annual basis.
