Motorola recently filed a patent for - what a surprise - a foldable phone.
Σaccording to the photos, the implementation of the company does not deviate from the path set by Samsung and Xiaomi, presenting a device that is a tablet whose back folds in two to transform into a smartphone.
The patent was filed with the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) and the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization), and was released on January 10.
The patent is entitled "Deformable electronic device with methods and devices for controlling the deformable user interface". In essence, the description refers to a device that, when folded, can be used from one screen and the results of the user's movements displayed on the other screen. It sounds complicated and counterproductive, but imagine a device where you scroll with your finger on the back screen and the content moves on the front screen.
You can see some examples in the sketches below, as well as other methods of interacting with gestures, such as touch and pressure. The existence of two cameras is rumored to detect the user's face, so that the device "perceives" which of the two screens is on the user's side.
We look forward to the implementation of this patent by Motorola!
