From today, young people can be exempted from mobile and prepaid telephony charges age of 15-29 years, as well as the ministries Digital Governance and Finance put it into operation mobilefees.gov.gr.
ΣOn this platform, young people in this age group can register their mobile phone at Register of Beneficiaries of Exemption of Mobile Telephony and Cellular Telephony Subscribers (Mi.D.A.Te.), to be exempt from mobile and prepaid charges.
The registration in the Register is very simple and is completed with its declaration AMKA (or PAAPA), the mobile number of the beneficiary and the provider in which the mobile phone number operates for fee exemption. The platform is also available in English.
The entrance to mobilefees.gov.gr is done through codes Taxisnet:
- or the beneficiary, if he is an adult (18-29 years),
- or the custodian of the beneficiary, if he is a minor (15-17).
- The custody relationship is checked automatically, after crossing with the Citizens' Register or alternatively with the form E1 of the most recent income tax return.
Upon completion of the submission of the application to the Register, the mobile service provider is informed automatically to apply the exemption when issuing an invoice or renewing airtime, without requiring any further action on the part of the beneficiary. In case of transfer of the number to another company (portability), the new provider is automatically informed through the Register that the specific number is entitled to exemption. Finally, the exemption for beneficiaries who turn 29 will automatically be terminated.
Please note that each beneficiary can enter a mobile phone number to request an exemption. At any time, the beneficiary can delete the exemption request in one number and activate it in another one in his possession, if he so wishes. Citizens can submit more than one application if they have more than one beneficiary in their custody.
The possibility of registration in the Register will be given gradually, starting from Monday 10 January 2022, based on final number of the applicant's VAT number, as follows:
- January 10, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 0
- January 11, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 1
- January 12, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 2
- January 13, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 3
- January 14, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 4
- January 15, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 5
- January 16, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 6
- January 17, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 7
- January 18, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 8
- January 19, 2022: VAT activation with final digit 9.
Beneficiaries who do not have codes Taxisnet or citizens who apply for a minor beneficiary and the custody relationship can not be confirmed by electronic crossing, can contact Citizens Service Centres to register in the Register. The submission of applications fa KEP will be available from Or January 20. This initiative complements the new, unified and fixed mobile and prepaid telephony fee 10%, which applies to all of 1 January 2022. Thus, the commitment of the Prime Minister for reduction of the tax on telecommunications is being implemented, as he announced in his speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair in September 2021.
The measure contributes to relieving households and businesses of the tax burden, with the aim of boosting disposable income and improving the prospects of all citizens, especially young people.
