MIUI: We say goodbye to MIUI updates as we know them: A big change is coming

xiaomi-logo

Those who know it MIUI they will know that it is a custom Android Skin for its smartphones Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO, which has as its original source (Source) the Chinese versions of the ROMs.

Σday we will let you know one big change which will affect all devices receiving updates to MIUI, and which mainly concerns the closed beta version of MIUI.

From the future version of MIUI based on Android 13, will no longer be available closed Beta versions of MIUI, and these will be partially replaced by MIUI public beta.

As reported by MIUI Polska through the well-known Developer Kacper Skrzypek and republishes it xiaomitoday.it, After twelve years of continuously publishing weekly updates to MIUI, Xiaomi Developer Team he said today that, starting with its upcoming update MIUI on Android 13, The  closed beta versions of MIUI will no longer be published.

For those who do not understand what these changes will mean from now on, we will describe below how the distributions of MIUI ROM so far.

So far there are three different types of updates in MIUI, or rather versions:

  • The constants editions (Stable MIUI Version) : these updates usually come 1-2 times a month with a version number such as V13.0.1.0.SKBCNXM (for China),  13.0.1.0.SKBEUXM (for ESA European Editions) or 13.0.1.0.SKBMIXM (in world editions).
  • Public BETA publications (Dev MIUI Version): these are usually done once a week with a version number as an example V13.0.3.1.27.DEV.
  • The closed BETA publications : these are published 4 times a week and were characterized by a publication number such as the last one 22.4.27 - those who use ours weekly XTRV Developer ROM or the ROMs from Xiaomi.eu they know them better.

Returning now to the changes that Xiaomi will promote, starting with Android 13, the closed Beta versions of MIU will no longer be released. Each week, however, there will continue to be public BETA versions of MIUI, which are likely (not explicitly mentioned in the announcement) to be largely based in fixed versions , as is currently the case for its versions MIUI based on Android 12.

So what changes?

As we said in the introduction, nothing changes for those who have not unlocked the Bootloader of their device and use an Original Stable ROM by Xiaomi. That is, those who have already bought or will buy a smartphone from Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO, and have not changed their device ROM with any other Custom ROM, will not be affected by these changes.

Those who are affected by Xiaomi's new policy and the changes it is planning will be only Developers and those who use custom ROMs such as weekly greek XTRV Developer ROM produced by our community, but of course the corresponding ones weekly Developer ROM from xiaomi.eu which we have as Source.

Will these changes benefit users?

We believe YES.

Given the large number of devices released by Xiaomi, it is very difficult for the company developers to release new releases of MIUI every day that are characterized Closed Beta ROMs.

It will help Xiaomi Developers in charge of MIUI development better focus on debugging Xiaomi operating system, giving them more time, and perhaps ultimately helping all end users receive more Stable ROMs per month that will be better than so far.

In terms of weekly XTRV & Xiaomi.eu ROMs there will definitely be changes that we are not able to know in advance. What is certain is that public BETA publications that Xiaomi will continue to distribute will be essentially the same as the final Stable versions of MIUI, and we may have to use them as a Source for the weekly releases of XTRV and xiaomi.eu ROM. This, of course, will have its pros and cons.

Anyway, we will let you know later when we have more information from Xiaomi, and we will know better if possible we will continue to provide you with weekly XTRV ROM, or we will be forced to stay only in their distribution Stable XTRV versions.
