Redmi did not specify which models will receive the update first. However, during the announcement of MIUI 12, the Xiaomi Group had announced that a stable version of the update for Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones was scheduled to be released in three stages. The following Redmi mobiles will receive the update in the first wave: Redmi K30 Pro Zoom Edition, Redmi K30 Pro, Redmi K30 5G, Redmi K30, Redmi K20 Pro Exclusive Edition, Redmi K20 Pro and Redmi K20.

In April, MIUI 12 was unveiled at an online event in China. Following the launch, the company released the first beta of the new interface for a range of phones.
