Η Xiaomi adds an extra feature to the camera app on MIUI 12 (Magic Clone), which will soon be available on many devices.
TLast month, Xiaomi released the We are 10 Youth Edition in China. This device is equipped with some special features related to the camera, which do not exist in other devices of the company.
One of the most important specifications of the device regarding the camera, is the periscopic lens that has and allows 5x optical zoom and up to 50x digital zoom.
But in addition to the special equipment that the cameras of the device have, Xiaomi also presented us some new special effects of the camera such as Sky Replacement, Kaleidoscope Video, but also a special function called Magic Clones.
Function Magic Clones creates a special motion effect on photos and videos, which makes them look more interesting.
But now as Xiaomi informs us, the function Magic Clones it is currently being tested in its Beta version as well MIUI 12, suggesting that this new feature could be added to more devices when the stable version of MIUI 12 is released.
Magic Clone Added to MIUI 12 Weekly Developer Version for China, Version Number 20.5.18. Through operation Magic Clones, one can for example take a photo of oneself up to four times at different intervals.
The Magic Clones can be activated in the "More" menu located in the camera application settings in MIUI 12. To capture different clones of a person, the operation requires a stable background and very good stabilization of the Smartphone, because as the person moves across the canvas of the viewfinder, our camera follows us taking pictures at different times.
So there has to be someone else to operate the camera and have the Smartphone mounted on one tripod or gimbal. This feature only works with human faces (or with objects that look like human faces).
Also, the person in the frame should not move too fast as this can lead to blurring of the photos.
The well-known member at XDA Developers, Tushar Mehta, try this feature and the result is not bad - except for some blurring and superimposition on some parts of the body. With great care and practice, users can use this feature and have very good results. It can also be very convenient for those who engage in social media.
Despite the fact that this particular camera feature has been introduced as part of the MIUI 12 beta, it is very likely that this feature will become available on other devices from Xiaomi, Redmi or POCO, because it is already available in its stable version MIUI 11 for Mi 10 Youth Edition.
We are not yet sure if this feature will be available on Global Stable MIUI 12 ROM (Outside China), but we hope Xiaomi does not disappoint us.
