MIUI 12: These are the best features and the biggest changes - The lists of devices being upgraded

Η Xiaomi continues its distribution MIUI 12 for many devices, with a whole new environment, many animated animations, many privacy and security improvements, new health features and much more.

Όhow Xiaomi is used to doing the new in every upgrade MIUI 12 also pays great attention to improving the aesthetics of the environment, and the new operating system of the company comes with a complete redesign of its features, and with a series of new beautiful animations (animated graphics).

According to the company, this system is built from scratch and is believed to be equivalent to iOS. MIUI 12 is already in development for 22 smartphones of the company, which will receive the first Beta Developer ROM, while the fixed Global enviroment version will be released from June onwards.

New animations in MIUI 12

Starting with the animations in MIUI 12, almost every move on the system has been refreshed. Xiaomi claims that these new animations are even better than those of Apple's iOS. Everything from the start and closing of the applications, the rotation of the screen, the opening of the menu "Recently" and the animation for charging the battery have been renewed with new graphics. The same goes for other features such as battery statistics, new live wallpapers, note-taking tasks, and rearranging icons on the home screen.

Gestures

MIUI was one of the first Android skins to adopt Gestures, but they differed from the gestures of Android 10 and were more similar to those on Apple's iOS.

But now with MIUI 12, Xiaomi has completely changed the Gestures, and they will work just like the classic Android 10.

Smoother and cleaner user interface

The new MIUI 12 interface is visually clearer, with larger gaps between text and icons, and we now have a brighter white background. MIUI 12 also brings many new visual changes to the way it presents various information.

Live wallpapers and AOD

Xiaomi has also added a number of new vibrant wallpapers and AOD displays inspired by the landscapes of the Earth, Moon and Mars. Not only that, but now these animations flow like videos, in which we see them rotate while the screen is locked, and when you unlock your device, they zoom in and out just as we see in Google Earth. The new live wallpapers are dynamic and not static as we had in MIUI 11.

About the same animations are made in the icons of the applications that exist on the desktop. By clicking on them we see them magnify before the application opens, the reverse when we close the application.

In general, the beautiful movement is now visible throughout the MIUI 12 system.

Privacy features

MIUI 12 now has some new privacy features called Flare, Barbed Wire and Mask System. In fact, MIUI 12 is the first operating system for Smartphones in the world that went through "Android System Enhanced Privacy Protection Test"Of her TUV Rheinland, which is essentially a security certification for the complete protection of users' data.

Flare maintains a log of all licenses and sensitive information that applications have access to, and alerts you with pop-up alerts whenever an application uses your cameras, microphone, or GPS location.

Barbed Wire acts like an Android location license that asks you to allow or deny access to your GPS, microphone, or camera.

Finally, Mask System prevents unreliable applications from accessing important information such as contacts, calendar, call logs, IMEI, etc.

Multi-window and Picture-in-picture

MIUI 12 takes both Mulittasking and Picture in Picture pop-ups to a whole new level. Now it offers new features like the ones we see in OnePlus OxygenOS. Each application can have its own pop-up window. The same goes for videos and games, which you can drag in a small window to any part of the screen you want.

For example, you can watch a video in full screen, and at the same time read your Skype messages in a smaller window (Picture in Picture).

AI call

Xiaomi adds AI calling feature to MIUI 12, which is specifically designed for hearing-impaired users. The conversation is fully recorded and presented in text to help users with hearing or voice disabilities, who can choose from a set of ready-made AI-generated responses instead of talking to continue the conversation.

Fitness features

The built-in gyroscope on Xiaomi and Redmi phones can now be used not only for recording steps but also for exercises such as running, walking, cycling and more. Xiaomi claims that this feature is about 96% as accurate as the Apple Watch.

Built-in sleep detector

Xiaomi has also added a sleep detector that will monitor your movements throughout the night to determine the quality of your sleep. It will also record the duration of REM sleep, that is, when you are fast asleep, but it will also record your snoring, to help you improve the quality of your sleep.
