The "Spartan" smartphone that heralds a new era for mobile telephony.
Η Meizu unveiled the innovative Zero mobile phone on Indiegogo funding platform, asking the world for $ 100.000 to launch it at € 1.145 ($ 1.299).
What does Zero not have? No hole, no door! Neither for charging, nor for headphones. Even the speaker grilles are emphatically absent. It also has no physical buttons like on / off or volume up.
Undoubtedly, the smartphone features a fingerprint sensor, exclusively wireless charging, supports the new type of eSIM cards and incorporates "on-screen audio technology", which means that it does not need holes in the body for the speakers!
According to Meizu, the Zero has "no button, no headphone jack, no SIM card slot and no charging port". The outer shell is a solid ceramic shell with no seams and visually annoying holes, although it took a bit of magic to compensate for the natural losses.
The 5,99-inch AMOLED display also works as a speaker, thanks to Meizu's patented mSound 2.0 technology, and charges wirelessly at the speeds set by Apple and Samsung. As for the practical on / off buttons and volume, they are virtual: you just press the sides of the ceramic surface and the functions are performed normally.
Without holes and openings, the phone is automatically waterproof, having the coveted IP68 standard from its genuflections.
Of course, it is not clear how functional the phone is and what technical features it has. Meizu just said that it wears last year's Snapdragon 845 processor. If we will see it in the market and when, it remains to be seen…
