In 2018, fewer computers and fewer "smart" mobile phones were sold in our country than in 2017, while for 2019 a new reduction in their sales is expected.
ΣIn the Greek market, a smaller number of computers was sold in 2018 by 1% compared to 2017, while this year a large reduction of 23% is expected.
Specifically, 412.000 computers were sold in Greece last year, a number that is estimated to decrease to 317.000 in 2019.
Sales of "smart" mobile phones (smartphones) received a strong blow in 2018, with their market value decreasing by 46,1% and reaching 110 million euros. The picture for 2019 will be negative again, with the expected fall, however, being limited to 21% and the purchase value reaching 87 million.
On the contrary, strong growth was recorded in 2018 in sales of smartphones with large screens (phablets), which reached 188 million euros, increased by 50,6%. The positive performance will continue in 2019, with an increase of 14,6% and a market value of 215 million euros.
In 2018, a total of 1,858 million telephone devices were sold in the Greek market, of which 788.000 were smartphones and of these 491.000 phablets. Sales of 2019 million devices are expected for 1,644, of which 706.000 smartphones and of these 527.000 phablets.
The relevant assessments are included in the "Research on the Market of Information and Communication Technologies" presented by the Association of Information Technology and Communications Enterprises of Greece (SEPE) as a member of the European IT Observatory (EITO).
