LG's first “LIFE'S GOOD AWARD” reveals innovations for a better life for everyone

With a million dollar innovation challenge, the multinational tech company is inviting restless minds from around the world to pitch ideas for the planet and its inhabitants


Η LG Electronics (LG) announces that it started -at September 6th and ends October 10th – the period for submission of entries for the first LIFE'S GOOD AWARD. It LIFE'S GOOD AWARD announced in CES® 2022 and seeks to discover innovative solutions, aligned with LG's goal of a Better Life for All. The winning applications will receive a total of one million dollars to accelerate the development of their proposals.

Envisioning a sustainable world where…”Life's Good” for the planet and all its inhabitants, LG continues to pursue eco-oriented solutions and ideas for a greener environment and develop user-centric products and services that provide access to comfortable, useful and innovative experiences for all.

The LIFE'S GOOD AWARD marks an important step in LG's sustainability journey, helping to spread the message Life's Good of the company worldwide. In addition to implementing its own sustainable practices, the company is now inviting individuals and groups who embrace the same principles to pitch their unique ideas to help build a Better Life for All.

The LIFE'S GOOD AWARD invites interested parties to submit original and actionable solutions for environmental health in the category Innovation for the Planet, or ideas and solutions that can enrich everyday life by prioritizing security, usability and accessibility in the category Innovation for them Apeople. The judging panel includes Alex Edmans, Professor at London Business School who won the Financial Times Best Business Books 2020 and Financial Times for Excellence in Sustainable Finance Education awards, Christopher Marquis, Professor at Cambridge Judge Business School and Gold Medalist at the 2021 Axiom Business Book Awards in the Business Ethics category and Hyun S. Shin, professor at Hanyang Business School and director of the Collective Impact Center at Hanyang University.

Applying knowledge to alleviate real-world problems is what every scholar aims for. LG has given us a powerful platform to do this. The LIFE'S GOOD AWARD leverages LG's resources to bring together budding innovators, entrepreneurs, academics and business professionals and is an exciting example of how a company can make a real impact on improving lives., commented Christopher Marquis.

LG has partnered with B Lab Korea, a non-profit organization specializing in measuring and certifying the social impact of businesses, in order to ensure that all entries submitted for the LIFE'S GOOD AWARD are evaluated using relevant impact studies.

Entries will be thoroughly evaluated in the first screening. Those with the highest scores will undergo a second evaluation, which will be conducted by a jury consisting of selected LG executives and renowned scholars chairing leading academic institutions. The three finalists will be announced at CES® 2023 and will be presented to the jury in a final competition in January. The first place winner (Grand Prix) will receive $700.000 in prize money, while the second (Silver) and the third (Bronze) will receive $200.000 and $100.000, respectively.
