LG: Sales of the world's first 8K OLED TV begin

Η LG announced the launch of its first global sales 8K OLED TV (model 88Z9) with pre-orders for the model 88 inch to start this week at South Korea.

Η TV will be available in North American and European markets in the third quarter of the year.

As the largest OLED her tv LG to date, the 8K OLED stands out for LG's incomparable technology innovation. The new model emphasizes the superiority of the OLED screen over conventional LED screens and offers a unique viewing experience. The TV uses an advanced panel with over 33 million self-illuminating pixels, offering excellent picture quality and providing more vivid colors with a wide viewing angle, contrast ratio and deeper black.

The images are represented with exceptional clarity, thanks to 8K Ultra HD resolution (7.680 × 4.320) which corresponds to 16 times the number of pixels in full HD resolution and four times compared to UHD.

The excellent performance of its panel LG 8K OLED TV is enhanced by the advanced second generation α (Alpha) 9 Gen 2 8K intelligent processor. The processor improves image and sound quality with the deep learning algorithm, providing access to an extensive database of visual information. This allows the chip to optimize content while recognizing source quality and applying the best algorithm that guarantees stunningly realistic images.

With the α9 Gen 2 8K processor, LG's 88-inch 8K OLED TV features enhanced editing capabilities with an effective 8K upgrade and ensures less noise in 6 of the 4 steps of the 4K version. This results in a more vivid 8K resolution image when upgrading to 4K (3.840 × 2.160) or 2K (1.920 × 1.080) content. The processor also analyzes the ambient conditions to achieve the perfect level of screen brightness.

The LG 88Z9 enhances the immersive experience with impressive sound performance. The sound quality is enhanced by an intelligent algorithm that allows the mixing of 2-channel audio into 5.1 surround sound. The deep learning algorithm significantly improves performance by analyzing source content to produce enhanced sound effects in movies, louder bass in music and clearer vocals in sports shows.

Users can adjust the sound to match the space, as it perceives the point of view, adapting the acoustics to the space.

To ensure an exciting HDR experience, the LG 8K OLED TV is backed by Dolby Atmos for incredibly realistic sound and smart content with Dolby Vision compatibility. The TV includes the HDMI 2.1 port, giving users the fantastic ability to enjoy 8K content at 60 frames per second.

The TV also supports automatic low latency (ALLM), variable refresh rate (VRR) and enhanced audio return channel (eARC).

In some markets, the LG 8K OLED TV will offer built-in versions of both Google Assistant and his Amazon Alexa for maximum flexibility, convenience and management of TV and connected smart devices.
