In the latest video, JerryRigEverything Youtube channel has tackled the Galaxy S10 that survived all the standard tests, and shows us what will happen to the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, located under the screen, when the glass that protects it gets some severe scratching (which is impossible to happen under normal conditions).
The Galaxy S10 has a metal frame (aluminum), and is glass front and back. The screen is highly resistant to scratches, and there is no unusual bending or damage during the Bend Test. The Galaxy S10 has been installed by its mother, a screen protector that is prone to scratches.
The interesting thing about the GS10 is that it has a new type of on-screen fingerprint sensor. Phones like the OnePlus 6T use an optical in-display sensor, but the one Samsung uses is ultrasonic.
What happens if your screen gets damaged? As shown in the video, light scratches will not cause problems. However, deeper scratches and cracks cause the ultrasound sensor to fail to recognize the fingerprints.
