Vodafone Foundation: Strengthens the Telemedicine Program with gynecological screening of all ages

The  Vodafone Foundation, on the occasion of the completion of 20 times active presence and contribution to Greek society, announces that the Telemedicine program, which has been implemented since 2006, is strengthened, expanding the prevention and health services provided to women regardless of age.

Aiming at the early prevention of all gynecological diseases, it creates a new questionnaire that will now be addressed to all women, who are in 100 remote areas of Greece, where the is applied Telemedicine program.

The interested party will have the opportunity to visit the Regional Clinic of her area or the Health Center and together with the General or Rural doctor fill out the questionnaire. Then the results will be sent through Vodafone network to doctors of the Medical Center of Athens, who, if they observe/judge any potential seriousness, will give guidelines regarding tests deemed necessary to be carried out.

Η Alexandra Papanikolaou, Head of the Foundation Vodafone, stated in this regard:

The health sector is a primary concern of the Vodafone Foundation, having as its main priority implementing programs that improve the lives of thousands of our fellow human beings every day. This year, with the introduction of new questionnaires aimed at women of all ages, we continue to create a better future for all of us.

The strengthening of gynecological check-ups for women of all ages is the first move to expand the health services provided by the Telemedicine program of the Vodafone Foundation. The next step in the expansion of the program is the provision of comprehensive preventive pediatric control with the aim of meeting the basic preventive health needs of children living in remote areas of our country.

The Telemedicine Program of the Vodafone Foundation is implemented in collaboration with the Athens Medical Center and is under the auspices of Ministries of Health and Shipping & Island Policy. The Program is attended by Hellenic Intermunicipal Network of Healthy Cities, while the company is responsible for its technical implementation Vidavo. Since 2008, more than 55.000 examinations, In 100 remote points all over Greece, while since 2013 they have been examined above 17.750 inhabitants of rural and remote areas.
