Η Samsung has been caught in the past using misleading photos to promote its mobile phones. But that did not stop her from doing the same with promotional material for the Galaxy A8 Star.
Samsung was exposed again after Samsung Malaysia used a DSLR photo of photographer Dunja Djudjic to promote the portrait mode of the Galaxy A8 Star.
Djudjic found out that someone had bought one of her photos and decided to do a reverse image search on Google, which led her to the Samsung Malaysia website. Her photo was edited and Photoshop to show the portrait mode of the device, implying that the photo was taken with the Galaxy A8 Star.
Finally, stock images may be a standard in marketing, but when it comes to advertising the capabilities of a camera, such practices are misleading, giving potential buyers the wrong impression of the true capabilities of the device.
