Apple: Sends data recorded by Siri to third parties

Η The Guardian discovered a report which says that the Apple, has hired staff who listen to and analyze questions asked at Crab.

ΠA few days ago, Google came under fire because it was revealed that it is hiring experts who listen to personal conversations, which were recorded at irrelevant moments by Google Assistant. Of course, the company said that it does this so that it has enough data and can improve the performance of its digital assistant.

It seems that Google is not the only one monitoring its customers. The Guardian has uncovered a report that says Apple has hired employees to listen to and analyze questions asked at Siri. Things would be better for the company if it referred to the privacy policy accepted by its customers.

Apple's privacy policy only states that only non-personal information is recorded, without specifying its nature. These records are about search queries on a variety of topics, and some of the data the company collects is shared with third parties.

According to a source in The Guardian, the recordings are not linked to specific Apple IDs, however, many are seconds long and involve personal data. Some of these reveal sensitive data, such as location, application data, and contact information.

In addition, Apple employees conduct quality checks on records that reveal medical evidence, drug deals, or recordings of couples having sex.

The Guardian contacted Apple, which said that less than 1% of daily queries to Siri are sent for analysis. However, hundreds of millions of users use Apple and Siri devices. This means that the conservative estimate of 1% given by Apple translates into hundreds of thousands of records.

Interestingly, Google in its own case had stated that only 0,2% of Assistant records are analyzed. Percentage significantly lower than that of Apple.

The source went on to say that some of Siri activations are random and employees are trained to identify and listen to specific recordings.

However, the privacy policy does not state that the questions are available to third parties, nor is there any way for users to avoid logging in to their activity. With Apple focusing heavily on protecting its customers' privacy and transparency, this omission appears to be a deliberate move by the company.
