iPhone 12: Apple has confirmed a serious health problem due to MagSafe

Apple has warned millions of iPhone 12 owners that the products in the series have the potential to cause serious health problems!

Άto announce Apple's financial results this week, the series iPhone 12 is expected to have broken sales records. But now the Apple, issued a warning to millions of homeowners iPhone 12 that the products in the series have the potential to cause serious health problems!

Apple "quietly" updated a support document for the series iPhone 12, stating that devices and wireless chargers MagSafe can cause electromagnetic interference to medical devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators, which was first identified by MacRumors.

Medical devices such as implantable pacemakers and defibrillators may contain sensors that respond to magnets and radios when in close contact. To avoid possible interactions with these devices, keep the accessories iPhone and MagSafe at a safe distance from your device (more than 6 inches / 15 cm or more than 12 inches / 30 cm if charged wirelessly). But consult your doctor and the manufacturer of your device for specific instructions.

Apple also specifically mentions that the official charger MagSafe and MagSafe Duo Charger are accessories that can cause interference. Therefore, you should expect this to be true and the same applies to MagSafe third-party chargers and accessories.

Apple's warning follows a report in Heart rhythm journal earlier this month, which claimed that the models iPhone 12 they can "suspend rescue therapy in a patient”Due to magnetic interference in implantable medical devices. The report details a trial conducted by three Michigan doctors who held a iPhone 12 near a patient's implantable cardiac defibrillator, which immediately caused him to enter a "suspension" state during the test.

We raise a major public health issue regarding the newer generation iPhone 12 that could potentially deter rescue treatment for a patient, especially when carrying the phone in top pockets
, the report explains.

Medical device manufacturers and doctors need to be vigilant to inform patients of this significant interaction between the iPhone 12 and other smart mobile devices with their implantable cardiac electronics.

Wanting to defend its products, Apple states that "Although all iPhone 12 models contain more magnets than previous iPhone models, they are not expected to pose a higher risk of magnetic interference to medical devices than previous iPhone models.", But adds the warning"If you suspect that iPhone or any MagSafe accessory interferes with the proper functioning of your medical device, stop using iPhone or MagSafe accessories".

Individually, the MagSafe is perhaps the most innovative addition to the iPhone line for several generations, but concerns about it are growing. In particular, in October Apple released another support document acknowledging that the magnets MagSafe can damage magnetic strips and chips RFID in credit cards, security signals, passports and basic fobs. It can also damage iPhone cases.

With the early leaks for the iPhone 13 reveal significant design changes, hopes will be raised that there will be some sort of MagSafe.
