Apple: Will Huawei 5G chip Balong 5000 be supplied exclusively?

The American manufacturer Apple is trying to release its 5G smartphone next year.

ΓFor some years, Apple relied on Qualcomm and Intel for processors. However, these companies are not able to help Apple with the creation of a 5G processor.

Initially, Apple is in a constant legal dispute with Qualcomm, and on the other hand Intel can not release a 5G processor within the time frame that Apple wants. Samsung also rejected Apple's offer to create a 5G processor, as the company has no short-range production. Finally, Apple is not interested in sourcing processors from MediaTek due to their low quality. So, apparently the last and only choice of the company is Huawei.

Huawei released its first 5G basband chip in August 2018 under the name Balong 5000, and at MWC 2019 announced its first 5G phone that uses this processor, the Huawei Mate X. According to Engadget reports, Huawei is interested in sell its 5G Balong 5000 chip, but only if the buyer is Apple.

Usually, Huawei is not interested in selling its processors to other companies. However, due to the dilemma faced by Apple, the company may be forced to bid for the Huawei Balong 5000. If Apple does not find a solution soon, then the first 5G iPhone will be released in 2021, which would put it 2 years behind the competition.

If the first 5G iPhone is released in 2021, then that means a bad omen for Apple. As Intel's XMM 8160 will not be ready when Apple needs it. As everything shows, the Balong 5000 is the only choice of the company. Although this scenario seems unlikely, the creation of such an agreement will mean the beginning of a new era and big profits for both companies.

Also, if Apple eventually uses Huawei's processor, then it will need to convince the US government that it is "safe" to use the Chinese manufacturer's components. As for Huawei, it will be one step closer to the US market, something it has been aiming for for years.
