Η Huawei officially released the HMS and activated its own application ecosystem.
Η Huawei seeks to become fully, or at least as far as possible, independent of American companies, their technologies and their components. As part of this effort, it is developing its own services and apps, which will replace those of Google.
A few days ago, the CEO of Huawei and Honor India, Charles Peng, said that the company has the HMS ready and is trying to develop its own ecosystem. He even stressed that most basic applications will be ready by the end of December.
The application ecosystem is active
Now, the company has officially launched HMS and activated its own application ecosystem. In essence, HMS is one set of basic services provided by Huawei itself. The purpose of these services is to replace Google Services, and they primarily support smartphones that can not use Google services and apps.
The operation of HMS started on December 23, with the company looking for testers for its services in China. Currently, this program uses two main applications, Huawei Mobile Services and HMSCoreTest.
At the moment, Huawei's application ecosystem has only 45.000 applications which use HMS. Some of the apps are about Huawei accounts, messaging, user authentication, and more.
The number of applications that the new ecosystem of the company has is very small, considering the more than 3 million apps that exist in the Google Play Store.
However, let's not forget that Android and Google Services have been around for many years. In addition, the company currently has almost one million developers worldwide, dealing with HMS. Only time will tell what the results of Huawei's venture will be.
