This week proved to be important for foldable smartphones, after we saw a hands-on photo of him Huawei Mate X and we learned the new release date Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Η photo of Mate X which had made the rounds of the internet a few days ago was a simple leak, since it belonged to a larger series of photos.
Reporter Li Wei met Huawei CEO Richard Yu at the Chinese airport and the two began talking. She told the whole story on Weibo and said that Richard Yu let her test the device, and explained the design changes the company made to the Huawei Mate X.
Initially, the main design change was the addition of carbon fiber around the camera sensors and hinge. It is not clear whether the carbon fiber is real or just a sticker for aesthetic reasons. However, we believe that the price of the Huawei Mate X would not justify the addition of a simple sticker.
In addition, when the foldable smartphone was first introduced, it had three rear cameras. It seems that the company has decided to add a fourth, which according to Huawei's website is a ToF sensor.
To unfold the Huawei Mate X the owner must press a specific button. The company also made changes to this button, which is now significantly larger and has a red detail in the center.
Unfortunately, the photos and Li Wei do not reveal whether any changes were made to the OLED screen and the hinge. Huawei has previously stated that it will delay the release of the foldable smartphone to do additional tests so that it does not suffer what Samsung suffered.
It seems that the company has examined every aspect of the device and solved any problems it has identified. Anyway, we have to wait for the official presentation of the Huawei Mate X, in September.
