We've seen some teasers, but now everything is official - Huawei has introduced its foldable smartphone, the Mate X.
Έcomes with 5G connectivity, based on Huawei modem called Baolong 5000, and the company claims to be the fastest 5G smartphone.
The device will also feature a 55W SuperCharge, making it the fastest charging smartphone, and Huawei says the Mate X can charge 85% of the battery in just 30 minutes.
In tablet mode, the Mate X has an 8-inch screen with a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. When the device is folded, the main part becomes 6.6 "with a resolution of 2480 x 1148 pixels, which is in a ratio of 19.5: 9.
The other side plays the role of a secondary screen, similar to the nubia X with the NEX Dual Display. They will be on both screens from a camera on the same side. Huawei said it would be able to take "best selfies" without elaborating. For better photos though, you should use the camera on the main screen.
The Huawei Mate X is folded
During the media presentation that took place before the official event, Huawei said that the Mate X in its final form will have four cameras. However, the demonstration unit we saw had only three. The company did not disclose any specifications of the cameras, but we can clearly see the Leica logo.
Huawei Mate X from all sides
This device is advertised as "the thinnest foldable phone in the world", which is 11 mm thick when folded, and one side is only 5,4 mm thick when the screen is unfolded, and some components such as the camera need extra space for to work properly, and these are on one side of the Mate X.
The specs of the device require a huge battery, and Huawei said that a 4.500 mAh battery will power the Mate X, and will be charged via a USB-C port on the bottom of the device. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the side, which also works as a Power button.
The Huawei Mate X will reach mid-2019 at € 2.299 (approximately $ 2.600) in a single color - the Interstellar Blue.
