Huawei Mate 40: Will be equipped with TSMC Kirin 1000 SoC 5nm

The upcoming flagship smartphone series, Huawei Mate 40, is already being developed by the big Chinese company.

ΌAs has been the case in recent years, the upcoming series will be powered by the company's latest powerful SoC. According to the popular leakster, Teme (@ RODENT950), Huawei's next-generation chipset will be called the Kirin 1000, whose processor will use the TSMC 5nm process and will be released along with the series Huawei Mate 40.

According to industry sources, the Kirin 1000 is codenamed "Baltimore". It will use the 5nm process and most likely the new Cortex A78 cores. The CPU and GPU will obviously be improved. We have already heard rumors about a Kirin 1020, but from what it looks like it will be different from the Kirin 1000.

We know that the Kirin 990 5G uses Cortex A76 processing cores. If Huawei skips the A77 and upgrades directly to the A78, CPU and GPU performance will improve significantly. However, we do not expect specific information about the processor to be leaked until it is officially announced.

As usual, Huawei's new Kirin SoC will arrive in the fall with the next generation Mate. So, it is no surprise that the Mate 40 series phones will be the first models of the company to have 5nm processors.

The line Huawei Mate 40 will consist of Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 RS Porsche and so on. It is not yet certain if there will be a "super-large" model Mate 40 Pro +. If Huawei finally launches a Mate 40 Pro + model, it is almost certain that the Porsche Design version will be based on that.

Recently, unofficial renders have been leaked that show the possible design of the Huawei Mate 40 series. Among other things, they indicate that it will have an innovative design on the back, with a five-fold camera next to a secondary auxiliary rear screen.
