In the new episode of the controversy between USA and Huawei (China in general) we have the decision of the US Department of Commerce to suspend the total embargo until 19 August, as reported by Reuters.
Η This decision became known after the Google, Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx and Broadcom announced that they will stop their partnerships with Huawei, which will have a tremendous impact on the use of the Android OS, Google services - applications and the provision of chipsets by US companies.
With the lifting of the embargo by 19 August, the Huawei earns a quarter to better organize its future moves (e.g. its own operating system, ways to provide security updates, and general support for existing devices), but do not imagine that the US showed mercy. The Commerce Department decision is clearly about serving American citizens and giving time to States that use Huawei networks (eg Oregon and Wyoming) to find alternatives.
From Huawei's point of view, the only official reaction so far is the one we saw last year in an effort to reassure millions of users of its products. We can, however, quote the statements of the founder of the company, Mr. Ren Zhengfei:
At such a critical time, I am grateful to American companies, as they have made a significant contribution to Huawei's growth and have shown their sensitivity to this issue. As far as I know, US companies have made significant efforts to persuade the US government to continue working with Huawei. We will always need chipsets from the US and we do not want to rule them out. This does not mean, however, that we can not build them ourselves.
The US government cannot stop us from reaching the top.
Thick, political games.
