The feature will tell you if a legitimate business — such as a bank, airline, or food delivery service — is calling you, along with the purpose of the call.

"We've been trying Verified Calls for a few months now and the initial results show that it increases a person's chances of answering a callSaid the company in blog post. "This, in turn, helps reduce business costs while recognizing relevant calls in a trusted way.".
In this pilot, Google noticed that the feature has helped banks get in touch with customers for possible suspicious transactions in their accounts. Food delivery companies and shipping companies have also used Verified Calls to alert customers about orders.
Η Google has not clarified exactly how it certifies legitimate businesses. However, the company stated in PCMag that there are safeguards to prevent fraudsters and spammers from entering the program. Calls will also be verified in real time to prevent spoofing.
However, it is up to the third party companies to join the program. To make this a reality, Google is working with a number of voice messaging companies, such as Neustar and JustCall, to help companies get into its system Verified Calls.

The possibility Verified Calls will be enabled by default in the application Phone app, but you can turn it off by going to settings of the application.
