Google's new Stadia video game streaming service has launched

Streaming video streaming (streaming) has already begun to transform music, cinema and television.

ΤThe time is coming for video games as well, as on November 19 the new game-streaming platform Stadia was launched by Google, which will be in the computer "cloud" and will be accessible via the Internet by users.

Google's new video game platform

The new platform, which relies on the great power of Google's computer centers to "run" games, makes special game consoles unnecessary. The user can play on any device connected to the Internet (computer, tablet, smartphone, TV, etc.), with the help of Google Chromecast or a special Stadia application for smartphones. On a computer the user uses the Chrome browser.

Google, which recently announced an increase in privacy protections, is not the only tech company to "bet" that streaming will bring upside down the huge $ 150 billion international video game market, according to The Economist. This month, Microsoft announced new games for the xCloud pilot service that will officially launch in 2020 and will work with the existing Xbox Game Pass subscription service, which allows users to "download" games. Something similar is said to be being prepared by Amazon, while Nvidia is testing its own GeForce Now service and Sony is already offering the Playstation Now streaming service which offers over 800 video games.

Google Stadium

Stadia, which requires an internet connection of at least 10Mbps, will start with 22 available video games, including Assasin's Creed Odyssey, Destiny 2, Mortal Combat 11 and NBA 2K20. The streaming in 4K resolution will be provided through the premium Stadia Pro service with a monthly subscription of $ 9,99.

More than 450 video games on the google platform

Google has announced that it has more than 450 video games under development, which will be added to the online platform Stadia from 2020, according to Reuters. Stadia has been launched in 14 countries (USA, UK, Canada, France, Germany, etc.) and the user starts by activating their account at stadia.google.com.

However, the success of game-streaming largely depends, in addition to the wide range of online games, on the state of the network and the capabilities of the user's device, especially when it comes to games with demanding graphics. Complaints have already been heard from some users that there is a time lag between pressing a key and reacting to their screen.

Streaming and video games

It also remains unknown how good streaming will be when a large number of users start using Stadia at the same time, which can "overload" Google's servers, although the company itself assures that this will not happen.
For these reasons, however, according to the New York Times, many fanatical gamers will probably hesitate to jump on the streaming platforms, at least until they are sure that any delays will disappear and that they will find plenty of games there.
However, according to APE-MPE, online gaming, such as social networks, often needs friends and teammates. If gamers refuse to "betray" their Playstation, Nintendo and Xbox, then Stadia may finally have the fate of the unfortunate social network Google Plus.
