Η Google announced its plans to enhance the privacy of its users AndroidOS within the next 2 years on her own initiative as privacy sandbox.
H Google will make this move so as to put an end to the monitoring of users' activity by third-party applications for advertising purposes. The company christens its initiative as privacy sandbox and states that the aim is to prepare "advertising solutions with respect for user privacy».
The Google Privacy Sandbox for devices Android slightly reminiscent of Transparency Tracking App launched by Apple with its advent iOS 14.5 and brought upside down for the advertisers and the big companies in the field (see Facebook). THE Google, however, emphasizes that its own system will not completely exclude advertisers and characterizes the Apple ATT as an extreme abrupt solution.
The Apple ATT requires all applications to explicitly request the user's permission in order to monitor their activity on other applications and websites. The privacy sandbox, however, will limit this possibility by definition and at the same time look for alternative ways that respect privacy for the mobile advertising. These alternative ways restrict the sharing of personal data to third parties and work without any user profile advertising.
It will be interesting to see how this alternative to Google evolves, as it promises that users will know that their data is secure, while developers and businesses will have the right tools to accept ads and advertise accordingly.
