Some applications steal personal data, others activate unwanted subscription services while recently found in the Play Store applications use our smartphone for cryptocurrency mining.
Today Google notified its customers that it found two malicious applications which it removed from the Play Store: CM File manager and Kika keyboard. Both contain code that could deceive the customer in various ways by clicking on ads. The app's owner, Cheetah Mobile, said it has no control over the companies that provide the ads in the app. Given how it could make significant profits from the situation the company was not trusted by Google. The Kika keyboard had over 100 million downloads and the CM File manager up to 50 million!
Both applications can only be returned to the Play Store if the company provides Google with evidence that they have removed all traces of malware.
