Its recent beta G Suite extends the offline saving and editing using the application and for all other file types.
ΤGoogle Drive offers an easy way to store files in the cloud, accessible from anywhere, but only Google's file types are available for offline editing using the app. However, offline access will be extended to support all files.
According to Android Police, the offline saving and editing of Google Docs, Sheets and Slides is available from April to its users G Suite. This means that even if you do not have internet access, you can still work on these files. Other file types, however, could not be accessed offline unless you chose to use Backup & Sync's desktop client.
Its recent beta G Suite extends offline saving and editing by using the application for all other file types including PDF, Microsoft Office documents, images and anything else you are interested in and you have marked it as accessible offline. Currently, the new feature is available to a limited number of users who have signed up for the beta program, but will be available to Gmail users as long as they have enabled offline access.
