Η Xiaomi dominates the global market of smart-band for the third quarter of this year, according to a report Canalys.
Νearlier this week, the IDC reported that Apple dominated the wearables industry last quarter, and especially in the headphone subcategory with the growing popularity of AirPods.
Today, however, we have a new report from Canalys, n which focuses exclusively on the Wearbles category which includes sales of Smart Bands, smartwatches and fitness tracking worldwide for the third quarter of this year.
So, according to the Canalys report for the third quarter, Xiaomi had the most shipments in the global market, selling a total of 12,2 million units, achieving an increase of 74,4% on an annual basis and share market at 27% for the quarter. This impressive growth of Xiaomi is attributed to the very good performance it had in the Chinese market but also to the aggressive expansion of the company abroad.
Apple took second place with a market share of 15%, with 60% of sales being attributed to its new line Apple Watch Series 5.
Huawei came in third with 5,9 million units and a market share of 13%, up 243% year on year thanks to growing sales in China. Fitbit gained 8% of the market, and was the only seller that did not see much growth compared to last year.
Samsung took fifth place with a market share of 6% with its sales in Asia boosted thanks to the Galaxy Fit.
