Gionee: It ended its operations in China, but not in India.

It seems that Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has "rolled down", and the company's official website in China is no longer available.

Έit's been a few weeks now, and there has been no update from the company. Gionee has not been able to compete in the smartphone market after the arrival of other Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO and Vivo. Of course, it still operates in the Indian market, where it also has a few devices for sale. In India their website continues to work at this time… at least until now.

Unfortunately for Gionee it was never able to present us with a really impressive device that focused the attention of the users. The company has been facing problems for several years. It all started in late 2017, when Gionee failed to repay its creditors, advertising companies and suppliers.

According to a report, the company owes about $ 3 billion to about 650 creditors. In April 2018, the company laid off about half of its employees. The company's chief executive, Liu Lirong, also lost about $ 1,4 billion from the company's coffers to casino gambling.

In December last year, the company filed for bankruptcy  in his interim people's court  Shenzhen in China, and at the same time undertook to liquidate and reorganize. But now that the closure of the company's websites is apparent, this may be the first sign that Gionee has not been able to improve its operating conditions, and as a result end its operations in China permanently. There is no official announcement yet, but everything shows that the official announcement of the end titles will be made soon.

As we said a bit above, the company's website is still up and running in India, and the company recently launched a new smartphone in the country, called the Gionee F205 Pro. This is a Smartphone available at a price of Rs 5.890 (~ € 75).

This is the first smartphone released by Gionee after its bankruptcy. There have been reports that Gionee India and Karbonn would buy 75% of the company's shares to keep it alive in the country. Maybe that finally happened, and that's why we still have Gionee in India. But we have to wait and see what happens before we draw our own conclusions.
